Is my data safe?

Data security ultimately relies upon where the data is and who has access to it.

Where is my data?

In your data file:

We have worked hard to be able to provide a program that allows users to keep their data completely under their control as well as enable them to access their data from multiple devices. Almost all of your data in the program is kept within your data file(s) for the program. It is completely up to you where you choose to keep your file(s) for the program. You can keep your file locally on your device in the location your choose or you can keep your file on iCloud to make it available to your other Mac and iOS devices. All files stored on iCloud are encrypted.

In your Apple Keychain:

Sensitive information, such as download connection login credentials and account numbers, are stored securely in your Apple Keychain or not at all. Your Apple Keychain is a secure location for storing important items like these and is used by Apple's own apps. Your download connection login credentials and account numbers are never, ever uploaded or used anywhere except for connecting to your institution if you use Direct Connect downloads.

Who and what has access to my data?

Only who and what you choose:

Your data is stored in your file(s) for the program, which you choose where those are stored, and in your Apple Keychain. Unlike other programs, your data is never used outside of the program. There's no data mining going on behind the scenes as we're only in the business of selling software and don't sell your data as other financial programs and websites commonly do. We also don't directly engage in services that result in selling your data such as what occurs when using the account downloading methods found in other programs and websites.

How do I keep my data safe?

Store your data in a secure location:

Choose to keep your data file(s) for the program in a secure location such as only on your device or on iCloud which keeps all files encrypted. Remember to also keep backup files in a secure location.

Keep your device(s) secure:

Utilize the security options available throughout macOS and iOS. On iOS, require a strong passcode to unlock your device after a short period time of not being in use. On macOS, require a strong password to unlock your Mac after a short period time of not being in use. Turn on FileVault to encrypt your disk. You can also encrypt removable disks or media to protect files stored on those kinds of locations. Enable two-factor authentication for your Apple ID to protect your account and data on iCloud.
